Apt Speed Distance in Aptitude

Speed = Distance / Time. Distance = Speed × Time. Time = Distance / Speed.

Average Speed (different distances): Total distance / Total time. NOT average of speeds.

Average Speed (same distances at speeds u and v) = 2uv/(u+v).

Relative Speed: When two bodies move in the SAME direction: relative speed = |s1 - s2|. In OPPOSITE directions: relative speed = s1 + s2.

Trains: Time to cross a pole/point = Length of train / Speed. Time to cross platform = (Length of train + Length of platform) / Speed.

Convert km/h to m/s: multiply by 5/18. Convert m/s to km/h: multiply by 18/5.
