Apt Probability in Aptitude
Probability of event E: P(E) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes. P(E) is always between 0 and 1.
P(not E) = 1 - P(E). P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B). For mutually exclusive events: P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B).
Independent events: P(A and B) = P(A) × P(B). P(B|A) = P(A and B)/P(A) for conditional probability.
A coin: P(Head) = 1/2. A die: P(any number) = 1/6. A deck of 52 cards: 4 suits (13 each), face cards = 12.
