Permutation: Arrangement of items where ORDER MATTERS. P(n,r) = n!/(n-r)!. Example: 3 books in 3 positions = 3! = 6 ways.
Combination: Selection of items where ORDER DOES NOT MATTER. C(n,r) = n!/(r!(n-r)!). Example: Choose 3 from 5 = C(5,3) = 10.
Factorial: n! = n × (n-1) × (n-2) × ... × 1. 0! = 1.
Key formulas: C(n,r) = C(n, n-r). P(n,r) = C(n,r) × r!.
