Tamil Nadu has India's largest engineering ecosystem. Here are the top picks for 2026 with how to get in.
Government & aided (best value)
- CEG, Anna University (Chennai) — the state's #1; CSE cutoff ~199.5/200 via TNEA. Fees ~₹0.5L/yr.
- PSG College of Technology (Coimbatore) — top aided college, strong industry links.
- Thiagarajar College of Engineering (Madurai) and MIT Chennai — excellent value.
Top private
- VIT Vellore — via VITEEE; huge recruiter base.
- SSN (Chennai), SASTRA (Thanjavur), Amrita (Coimbatore) — strong CSE placements.
How admission works
Most government/aided seats are filled by TNEA using your Class 12 (PCM) cutoff marks — no separate entrance for many. Private/deemed use VITEEE/AEEE or JEE.
