Memory is a technique, not a talent. Use these and you'll retain far more.
Active recall: close the book and try to write/say what you remember. This single habit is the most powerful memory tool there is.
Spaced repetition: review at increasing gaps (day 1, 3, 7, 21). Each review locks the memory deeper — far better than cramming once.
Mnemonics: turn lists into acronyms or silly sentences (e.g. trig ratios, reactivity series, taxonomy). The sillier, the stickier.
Method of loci: attach facts to places in a familiar route (your home) and "walk" through them — great for sequences.
Understand first: you remember meaning far better than meaningless facts, so learn the "why" before memorising the "what".
On Syllab.in, practice + daily challenges are built around active recall and spacing — the two techniques with the strongest evidence. Free.
