Answer: Given length = 4.5 m
1 m = 100 cm
1 m = 1000 mm
1 m = 10^6 micrometers

Length in cm = 4.5 × 100 = 450 cm
Length in mm = 4.5 × 1000 = 4500 mm
Length in micrometers = 4.5 × 10^6 = 4.5 × 10^6 μm

Q (2022, 3 marks): The diameter of a wire is measured using a screw gauge. The main scale reading is 2 mm and the circular scale reading is 45 divisions. If the least count is 0.01 mm, find the diameter of the wire.

Answer: Given:
Main scale reading (MSR) = 2 mm
Circular scale reading (CSR) = 45 divisions
Least count (LC) = 0.01 mm

Total reading = MSR + (CSR × LC)
Total reading = 2 + (45 × 0.01)
Total reading = 2 + 0.45
Total reading = 2.45 mm

Therefore, diameter of wire = 2.45 mm
