IPMAT (Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IIM Indore)): IPMAT is the entrance exam for the five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) — a combined BBA + MBA offered by IIM Indore and some other IIMs. It lets Class 12 students enter an IIM straight after school. IPMAT tests quantitative ability and verbal ability, and shortlisted candidates then face a Written Ability Test and Personal Interview.

How to Prepare for IPMAT
- Each section has a strict time limit (about 40 minutes), so practise sectional tests with the timer on to build the right pace.
- The short-answer quant section has no negative marking — attempt all of them, as they are a safe scoring opportunity.
- Strengthen fundamentals in arithmetic, algebra and number system; IPMAT quant rewards speed on Class 9–12 maths.
- Read widely to boost Verbal Ability — reading comprehension and vocabulary make up a large share of the paper.

Can I join an IIM after Class 12 through IPMAT?
Yes. IPMAT is the gateway to the five-year Integrated Programme in Management (BBA + MBA) at IIM Indore and some other IIMs, which you can join directly after Class 12.
Does IPMAT have negative marking?
The multiple-choice sections have +4 for correct and −1 for wrong answers. The short-answer quantitative section has no negative marking, so you should attempt all of those.
What happens after I clear the IPMAT written exam?
Shortlisted candidates are called for a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Final selection is based on a combination of IPMAT score, WAT, PI and past academics.
Is IPMAT tougher than CUET?
IPMAT quant is generally more challenging and speed-focused than CUET, but it covers school-level maths and English. Consistent timed practice is the key to a good score.
