Model Answer: Essay on A Visit to a Zoo

Last month, I visited the Delhi Zoo with my school on an educational trip. It was an exciting experience that I will never forget. The zoo is spread over a large area with different sections for animals from Africa, Asia, and India. We entered through the main gate where we bought tickets and received a map. The first animals we saw were the lions and tigers in their large enclosures. I was amazed by their size and strength. A lion was sleeping lazily while a tiger was pacing back and forth. The zookeeper told us that these big cats hunt in the wild but here they are well-fed and protected. We saw elephants spraying water on themselves to stay cool. A baby elephant was playing with its mother, which was adorable. The hippos were swimming in a large pond, while giraffes ate leaves from tall trees. We visited the reptile house where we saw snakes, crocodiles, and lizards. The guide explained how snakes use their long bodies to move without legs. At the bird sanctuary, we saw colorful peacocks, eagles, and parrots. Their bright feathers and unique calls fascinated us. In the primate section, we watched monkeys and apes playing and fighting. One monkey stole a tourist's glasses, which made everyone laugh. The zoo also had farm animals where we could feed goats and sheep. We enjoyed interacting with the gentle animals. A visit to the zoo is educational because it teaches us about different animal species, their habitats, and behaviors. We learn that wild animals face threats from habitat loss and climate change. The zoo plays an important role in conservation and breeding endangered species. By visiting zoos, we develop compassion for animals and understand the need for environmental protection. A zoo is a window to the natural world and helps us appreciate the diversity of life on Earth.
