Vm Divisibility in Vedic Maths

Divisibility rules let you instantly determine if a number is divisible by 2, 3, 5, 9, 11, etc. For instance, a number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3; divisible by 9 if digit-sum is divisible by 9. For 4536: digit sum = 4+5+3+6 = 18, which is divisible by 9, so 4536 is divisible by 9.

The digit-sum method (also called "casting out nines") is powerful for checking arithmetic. After computing 456 × 78 = 35568, verify: 456 has digit-sum 15→6, 78 has digit-sum 15→6, product digit-sum should be 6×6=36→9. Check: 35568 digit-sum = 3+5+5+6+8 = 27→9. Matches!

These rules are not shortcuts for calculation but shortcuts for verification. In exams, a few seconds spent checking prevents costly errors. Divisibility rules also help identify patterns and factor numbers mentally.
