Sql Order Limit in Sql
ORDER BY sorts the result set by one or more columns. ASC (ascending, default: A→Z, 0→9) or DESC (descending: Z→A, 9→0). You can sort by multiple columns: first by one, then by another as a tie-breaker.
LIMIT restricts how many rows are returned — essential for performance when tables have millions of rows. OFFSET skips a number of rows — used for pagination (page 1, page 2, etc.).
These clauses go at the end of the query: SELECT → FROM → WHERE → ORDER BY → LIMIT → OFFSET.
Sql Order Limit — Syntax
SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY column ASC; -- sort ascending ORDER BY column DESC; -- sort descending ORDER BY col1 ASC, col2 DESC; -- multi-column sort LIMIT 10; -- return at most 10 rows LIMIT 10 OFFSET 20; -- skip 20, then get 10 (page 3)
