Robotics Sensors in Robotics
Sensors convert the physical world into electrical signals that a robot can understand. Common sensor types: distance (ultrasonic, IR), touch (buttons, pressure), light (photoresistor), temperature, color, camera.
Each sensor has a range and accuracy. An ultrasonic sensor works well up to 4 meters but fails in noisy conditions. A camera captures rich data but requires image processing.
Analog sensors return voltage values (0–5V). Digital sensors return 0 or 1. Most microcontrollers have both analog-to-digital (ADC) and digital input pins.
Robotics Sensors — Syntax
// Arduino: Read sensor values int sensorPin = A0; // Analog input int buttonPin = 2; // Digital input int analogValue = analogRead(sensorPin); // 0-1023 int digitalValue = digitalRead(buttonPin); // 0 or 1
