Reason Series Patterns in Reasoning

Number and letter series questions test your ability to identify hidden patterns and predict the next term. These patterns can be arithmetic (addition/subtraction), geometric (multiplication/division), or based on positions in the alphabet or composite operations combining multiple rules.

To solve series problems: (1) Calculate differences between consecutive terms, (2) Check if differences form a pattern themselves (second-order differences), (3) Look for multiplier patterns or alternating operations, (4) For letter series, convert to numbers (A=1, B=2, etc.), (5) Verify your pattern with at least 3 consecutive terms.

Common patterns include: arithmetic progression (constant difference), geometric progression (constant ratio), Fibonacci-like sequences (each term is sum of previous two), prime numbers in sequence, or alternating operations. Some questions combine multiple patterns or use digit sums and products.
