Reason Blood Relations in Reasoning

Blood relation questions test your understanding of family relationships and your ability to trace connections through multiple generations and sides (paternal/maternal, husband/wife). Each person has relationships through their parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and their spouse's family. The key is to build a family tree systematically and trace the path between two people.

Basic relationships: Parents have children; siblings share parents; cousins share grandparents; aunts/uncles are siblings of parents; nephews/nieces are children of siblings. For each person, identify their generation, then trace upward to find common ancestors, then trace downward to reach the target person. Generation distance helps determine the relationship type.

To solve: Draw a family tree based on given information, mark generations clearly, identify common ancestors, and trace the path. Be careful with gender-neutral relationships that could refer to multiple possibilities (e.g., "child" could be son or daughter). If asked "who is person X to person Y," trace from X to Y and identify the relationship name.
