Pbi Interactivity in Power Bi
Interactivity turns static reports into exploration tools. Slicers (visual filters for users), drill-down (click to see detail), and drill-through (navigate to a detail report) enable executives to ask "why?" without waiting for analysts. A Slicer on Region allows one click to filter 10 charts; without it, users are stuck viewing all regions at once.
Drill-down (built-in): click a bar for "North Region" and see cities within North. Power BI auto-expands if your data has hierarchies (Region → City → Store). Drill-through (manual setup): right-click a bar → "Drill Through" → opens a detail page pre-filtered to that region's transactions. This requires configuring a separate page with drill-through fields.
Best practices: Limit slicers to 3–5 per page (too many = confusion). Use buttons/bookmarks to toggle between summary and detail views. Make slicers prominent (top-left) and show current selection clearly. Test with end-users: Can a regional manager find "Top 10 stores in my region" in 5 clicks? If not, redesign.
