Da Storytelling in Data Analytics

Data storytelling is the ability to communicate data insights in a clear, compelling narrative that drives action. Numbers alone rarely change minds — but a good story backed by data is powerful.

Structure of a data story: Context (what is the situation?), Conflict (what is the problem or question?), Climax (what does the data show?), Resolution (what should we do?).

Know your audience: A CEO needs the conclusion first, then supporting data. A teacher needs clear explanation + examples. A student needs simple language + relatable examples. A scientist needs methodology + confidence intervals.

Common data storytelling mistakes: Too many charts (overwhelming), Starting with methodology instead of insight, Using jargon your audience doesn't understand, Showing data without a clear "so what?", Cherry-picking data to tell a misleading story.

Good data stories in India: Aadhaar team used data storytelling to show govt officials how many ghost beneficiaries were eliminated. ISRO uses data visualisation to show mission progress. Journalists at IndiaSpend.com use data journalism to tell stories about India.

Da Storytelling — Syntax

# Data story structure:
# 1. HOOK: Start with an interesting finding, not methodology
# 2. CONTEXT: Why does this matter?
# 3. EVIDENCE: The data that supports your point
# 4. INSIGHT: What does the data reveal?
# 5. ACTION: What should change based on this?
