Cyber Secure Wifi in Cyber Security
A secure Wi-Fi network uses strong encryption (WPA3 or WPA2), complex passwords, and proper access controls to prevent unauthorized network access and data interception.
Weak Wi-Fi security allows nearby attackers to intercept traffic, access shared files, or inject malware into connected devices. Many people never change default router passwords, leaving networks vulnerable.
Modern security standards: WPA3 is best (most secure), WPA2 is acceptable (widely supported), WEP/Open networks are completely insecure. Always disable WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup).
Additional measures include disabling WPS, hiding SSID broadcast (security through obscurity—not primary defense), using a strong password, updating firmware, and isolating IoT devices on separate networks.
