Cyber Malware in Cyber Security

Malware (malicious software) includes viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, and ransomware designed to harm systems, steal data, or compromise functionality. Each type has distinct characteristics and infection vectors.

A virus requires user action to spread (opening an infected file), while a worm self-replicates without user interaction. Trojans disguise themselves as legitimate software to gain system access.

Malware often enters systems through vulnerable software, email attachments, infected websites, or downloads from untrustworthy sources. Modern operating systems have built-in protections like code signing and antivirus engines.

Protecting against malware requires multiple layers: security software, regular updates, cautious file handling, and avoiding suspicious downloads. No single tool provides 100% protection.
