Shared Responsibility Model in Cloud Computing

Shared Responsibility = divide security between cloud provider & customer. Provider (AWS): Physical security, infrastructure, hypervisor, network. Customer: OS patches, app code, IAM, data encryption (if desired).

Example: RDS Database. AWS secures hardware, OS, backup. You secure: network access (security groups), credentials, SQL injection protection, data encryption at app level.

Key principle: Provider responsibility increases as you move up the stack. IaaS (most customer work) → PaaS → SaaS (least customer work).
