Containers Intro in Cloud Computing

Containers are lightweight, isolated environments bundling application code, libraries, and dependencies. Unlike VMs (which need full OS, GBs in size), containers are minimal (MBs). Docker is the most popular container platform.

Containers share the host OS kernel but isolate user space. One server runs 100+ containers vs 10 VMs. Benefits: fast startup (seconds vs minutes), efficient resource use, consistency across environments (dev=prod).

Docker workflow: Write Dockerfile (recipe) → Build image (blueprint) → Run container (instance). Used by Ola, Swiggy, Paytm for microservices. Kubernetes orchestrates containers at scale.
