Ai Safety Ethics in AI & ML
As AI becomes more powerful, questions of safety, fairness, and ethics become critical. AI is not neutral — it learns from human-generated data, which contains human biases, and its decisions affect real people's lives.
AI Bias: If an AI is trained on biased data, it makes biased decisions. Example: A hiring AI trained mostly on male employee data might unfairly rate female applicants lower. A facial recognition system trained mostly on light-skinned faces might fail on dark-skinned faces.
Deepfakes and Misinformation: Generative AI can create realistic fake videos, images, and audio of real people saying or doing things they never did. This is a growing threat to democracy and trust.
Privacy: AI systems often collect and analyse vast amounts of personal data. Who owns your data? How is it used? These are fundamental rights questions in the digital age. India's DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection Act) 2023 addresses some of these concerns.
Job displacement: AI may automate many routine jobs. The solution is not to avoid AI but to develop AI-complementary skills — creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and AI management.
