Ai Intro in AI & ML
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the science and technology of making computers perform tasks that normally require human intelligence — recognizing faces, understanding speech, translating languages, writing text, playing chess, driving cars, and much more. AI is reshaping every industry, from healthcare (disease diagnosis) to finance (fraud detection) to entertainment (content recommendations). It's the most transformative technology since the internet.
The term "Artificial Intelligence" was coined in 1956 by John McCarthy (a computer scientist at Dartmouth College). Alan Turing, a British mathematician, pioneered the theoretical foundations with his 1950 paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence," posing the famous question "Can machines think?" This sparked the field. Early AI pioneers like Marvin Minsky and Herbert Simon won the Turing Award for their contributions.
AI evolved through multiple waves: the first wave (1956–1974) was optimistic but limited to simple problems, the "AI winter" (1974–1980) saw reduced funding due to unmet expectations, expert systems (1980–1987) showed practical success, another winter (1987–1993) occurred, and the modern era (1997 onward) brought machine learning success. Deep learning (2012+) revolutionized the field with neural networks, leading to AlphaGo (2016), ChatGPT (2022), and beyond.
AI is built with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and Keras. Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT-4, Claude, Llama power conversational AI. Computer vision libraries detect objects and faces. Recommendation syst
