Actions Actuators in AI Agents
Actuators are the agent's tools for interacting with the world. They translate decisions into actions. A robot arm is an actuator. For a tutoring agent, actuators might be: send message, unlock next lesson, assign homework, adjust difficulty.
Not all actions are available to all agents. A tutoring agent in a public school might not have the actuator "expel student," but a principal agent might. Constraints on actuators define what agents can and cannot do.
Effective agents have diverse actuators. A learning agent needs multiple ways to respond: praise, explain differently, give easier problems, give harder problems, suggest rest, recommend real-world application.
