❓ Quick answer

Why does a balloon burst at high altitude?

At high altitude, atmospheric pressure decreases. The pressure inside the balloon remains relatively constant. The pressure difference pushes outward harder, stretching the balloon until it bursts.

❓ Quick answer

How does a straw allow drinking without using muscle power to pull water up?

When you reduce mouth pressure by inhaling, atmospheric pressure outside the glass pushes the water up the straw to equalize pressure. It is not the mouth pulling the water but atmospheric pressure pushing it.

❓ Quick answer

Why are water droplets spherical in space with no gravity?

Gravity does not determine shape; surface tension does. Water molecules are attracted to each other and form the shape with minimum surface area, which is a sphere. In space or free fall, spheres form naturally.
