Physics

A Simple Electric Circuit

A circuit needs a closed loop: cell → wire → bulb → back to the cell. "Break the loop, break the flow." Conventional current flows from + to − (electrons actually move − to +).

Dispersion of Light (Prism)

White light splits into VIBGYOR through a prism because each colour bends by a different amount — red bends least, violet bends most. "Violet Is Bent the most."

How We Hear (Sound)

Sound's path: Pinna → Ear canal → Eardrum → 3 tiny bones → Cochlea → Auditory nerve → Brain. Vibrations become nerve signals: "the eardrum drums, the cochlea codes."

Electromagnetic Induction

Move a magnet near a coil → a current is induced. "Change the magnetic field, get a current." Faster movement, a stronger magnet or more turns = a bigger current (Faraday's law).

Refraction of Light

Light bends when it changes medium. Into a denser medium (air→water) it bends TOWARD the normal; into a rarer medium it bends AWAY. "Denser = slower = bends toward."

Series vs Parallel Circuits

Series = one path (one bulb fails, all go out). Parallel = many paths (one fails, the others stay on). "Series = single file, Parallel = many lanes."

Magnetic Field of a Bar Magnet

Field lines come OUT of the North pole and go INTO the South pole. They never cross. Closer lines = stronger field. Like poles repel, unlike poles attract.

Chemistry

Structure of an Atom

Positive protons and neutral neutrons sit in the tiny nucleus; negative electrons orbit in shells. Shell capacity = 2n² (K=2, L=8, M=18). "Protons Push in the centre, Electrons Everywhere else."

Types of Chemical Reactions

Combination = "join", Decomposition = "break", Displacement = "kick out", Double displacement = "swap partners", Redox = oxidation and reduction happening together.

The pH Scale — Acids & Bases

0–6 is acid, 7 is neutral, 8–14 is base. Lower pH = stronger acid. "Below 7 is sour like lemon, above 7 is soapy like bleach, 7 is plain water."

Biology

Photosynthesis

The recipe: sunlight + water + carbon dioxide → glucose + oxygen, cooked inside the green chlorophyll. "A leaf drinks CO₂ and water, and with sunlight cooks sugar, breathing out oxygen."

The Human Heart & Blood Flow

Four chambers, two sides. Right side carries "blue" deoxygenated blood, left side carries "red" oxygenated blood — "Left is Loaded with oxygen." Blood passes through the heart twice = double circulation.

The Digestive System

Food's path: Mouth → Oesophagus → Stomach → Small intestine → Large intestine. Remember the small intestine is where most absorption happens — "small in size, big in job."

The Respiratory System

Air's path: Nose → Trachea → Bronchi → Bronchioles → Alveoli. Gas exchange happens in the alveoli — "Alveoli = Air sacs where air swaps": O₂ in, CO₂ out.

Plant Cell vs Animal Cell

Plant cells have 3 extras — Cell Wall, Chloroplasts, a big Vacuole. "Plants Wall themselves in, Cook their own food, and Store water big." Animal cells have none of these three.

Food Chain & Energy Flow

Producer → Herbivore → Carnivore → Top carnivore. Energy flows ONE way and only about 10% passes to the next level (the "10% law"), so top predators are few.

Reflex Action

Reflex arc: Receptor → Sensory neuron → Spinal cord → Motor neuron → Muscle. The brain is bypassed for speed — "the spinal cord decides, the brain finds out later."

The Nitrogen Cycle

Steps: Fixation → Nitrification → Assimilation → Ammonification → Denitrification. Air is 78% nitrogen, but plants can't use it directly — bacteria "fix" it into a usable form.

The Carbon Cycle

Carbon moves in a loop: photosynthesis takes CO₂ IN, respiration and combustion put CO₂ OUT. "Plants breathe it in, burning breathes it out."

The Excretory System

Kidneys filter blood → make urine → ureter → bladder → urethra. The filtering unit is the nephron. "Kidneys clean, bladder stores, urethra pours."

The Human Eye

Light path: Cornea → Pupil → Lens → Retina. The lens forms a real, inverted, smaller image on the retina and the brain flips it upright. Myopia = near-sighted (image falls short of retina); Hypermetropia = far-sighted.

Cell Division (Mitosis)

Mitosis = one cell → two identical cells. Stages in order: PMAT — Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase. "Pass Me Another Taco." The chromosome number stays the same.

Transport in Plants

Two pipes: Xylem carries Water UP (roots→leaves), Phloem carries Food (sugar) everywhere. "Xylem = water eXits upward, Phloem = Food flows."

Science

The Water Cycle

Remember the 4 stages as "Every Cloud Pours, then Collects" — Evaporation → Condensation → Precipitation → Collection.

States of Matter

Solid–Liquid–Gas = particles packed tight → loose → free. "Solids Stay, Liquids Loosen, Gases Go anywhere." More heat = more particle movement.

Life Cycle of a Butterfly

Four stages: Egg → Larva (caterpillar) → Pupa (chrysalis) → Adult. "Every Little Person Ages." This complete change is called metamorphosis.

Phases of the Moon

The Moon makes no light — we only see its sunlit half. Waxing = growing, Waning = shrinking. One full cycle takes about 29.5 days.

The Solar System

Order from the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune — "My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Names." Inner 4 = rocky, outer 4 = gas/ice giants.

The Rock Cycle

Three rock types keep transforming: Igneous (cooled magma), Sedimentary (compacted layers), Metamorphic (heat + pressure). "Fire, Layers, Squeeze."

The Greenhouse Effect

Greenhouse gases (CO₂, methane, water vapour) trap the Sun's heat like the glass of a greenhouse. A little warming keeps Earth livable; too much causes global warming.
